Skin Rejuvenation

SkinPen Skin Needling

Skin needling is one of the most clinically validated treatments available for genuine skin renewal. By creating thousands of controlled microchannels in the skin's surface, the treatment triggers your body's natural wound-healing response - stimulating the production of collagen and elastin from within, without disrupting the overall structure of the skin.

At Rejuved, we use SkinPen — the only TGA-cleared skin needling device in Australia - exclusively. SkinPen's precision engineering and single-use, sterile cartridge system means consistent depth, controlled delivery, and a significantly reduced risk of cross-contamination compared to other devices on the market. It's the benchmark for a reason, and it's the only device our clinical skin team uses.

Skin needling is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. Every patient at Rejuved begins with a thorough consultation and skin assessment, where your goals, skin history, and current concerns are mapped before any needles are used. Your treatment plan is built around you - not a protocol off a shelf.

Who is Skin Needling For?

Skin needling is suitable for most skin types, including darker skin tones that may be at higher risk of hyperpigmentation with more aggressive resurfacing procedures. It is one of the few collagen induction treatments appropriate across a broad range of patients when assessed correctly.

Our clinical team commonly treats patients presenting with:

  • Fine lines and early wrinkles

  • Post-inflammatory erythema (red acne scarring)

  • Atrophic acne scarring and pitted texture

  • Hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone

  • General skin dullness and loss of firmness

  • Stretch marks and surgical scarring

  • Enlarged pores

If you are currently experiencing active acne, eczema, rosacea, or any active skin infection, skin needling may not be appropriate at this time. Your treating clinician will assess this at consultation and recommend the right pathway for your skin.

Treatment Information

  • Skin needling requires minimal but real downtime, and we believe in setting honest expectations rather than selling you a recovery that doesn't match reality.

Immediately following treatment, you can expect:

    • Redness and mild warmth across treated areas — similar in appearance to a mild sunburn

    • Mild swelling, particularly around the forehead, cheeks, and under-eye area

    • A tight, tingling sensation as the skin begins its healing response

    • Minor sensitivity to touch

By day two and three, redness will begin to subside. Some patients experience mild flaking or peeling — particularly around the mouth region — as the skin sheds and renews. This is a normal and expected part of the process.

Most patients are comfortable returning to work the following day with minimal or no makeup. By day five to seven, the skin typically looks settled, refreshed, and more even in tone.

    During your recovery period, avoid:

    • Sun exposure — keep treated skin out of direct sun and apply SPF daily

    • Makeup for the first 24 hours post treatment

    • AHAs, BHAs, and exfoliating actives for at least five days

    • Retinol and vitamin A derivatives for five to seven days

    • Physical exfoliation of any kind until the skin is fully settled

    • Swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms for 48 hours

If you have any concerns during your recovery, contact the clinic directly. Our team is available to guide you.

  • Not all needling devices are created equal, and the device matters more than most patients realise.

SkinPen is the world's first FDA-cleared and TGA-cleared microneedling device. Its biomimetic technology creates microchannels in a precise, controlled pattern that initiates the skin's three-phase healing cycle — inflammation, proliferation, and remodelling — without the thermal damage associated with laser-based resurfacing. This means meaningful results with significantly less downtime.

Each SkinPen cartridge is single-use and sterile, disposed of after every treatment. There is no reuse, no risk of cross-contamination, and no compromise on clinical standards. At Rejuved, we maintain a strict infection control protocol across all skin treatments — because clinical outcomes depend on clinical integrity.

  • Before a microneedling session, consult with your therapist to discuss goals and medical history. Avoid sun exposure and discontinue use of exfoliating skincare products beforehand. Keep skin hydrated and avoid blood-thinning medications (how ever, if ypu have been prescribed medication for a medical condition do not cease these) or supplements (such as fish oil) 3 days prior to treatment. Follow any additional instructions provided by your skincare professional. These preparations ensure skin is in prime condition for microneedling, helping to promote better results and a smoother recovery process.

  • A course of four to six sessions, spaced four weeks apart, is the clinical standard for most skin concerns. This interval allows each treatment to complete its healing cycle before the next is initiated — compounding results with each session.

Results are not immediate. Collagen remodelling takes time — most patients begin to see meaningful change from their third treatment onward, with continued improvement for up to three to six months following their final session. Patients with deeper scarring or more significant skin concerns may require a longer course.

A maintenance session every three to six months is recommended to sustain results long-term.

Your treating clinician will give you a clear recommendation at your initial consultation based on your individual presentation and goals.

  • Skin needling works hardest when it is supported — both in clinic and at home.

    In-Clinic Add-Ons

Healite II LED Therapy — $50 add-on Applied immediately post-needling, Healite II LED therapy uses clinically validated wavelengths of light to accelerate the skin's healing response, reduce post-treatment redness, and enhance collagen stimulation. We strongly recommend LED as a post-needling add-on for patients focused on scarring, pigmentation, and anti-ageing outcomes.

Laser Genesis — $175 For patients with redness, rosacea-prone skin, or diffuse pigmentation, Laser Genesis can be incorporated as a complementary treatment. Speak to your clinician about whether this is appropriate for your skin.

    At-Home Support

Following collagen induction treatment, we recommend Orthoplex Clinical Collagen as part of your daily routine. Oral collagen supplementation provides the building blocks your skin needs to support the remodelling process from within — an evidence-informed addition to your post-treatment protocol that we stock in clinic.

Your clinician will also review your current homecare at your consultation and may recommend adjustments to optimise your results between sessions
